Film description “Theft in the Shadows”
“Theft in the Shadows” is an animated film that combines traditional frame-by-frame
drawing with modern computer animation.
Just hours before the opening of an exhibition, the Mona Lisa, on loan from the Louvre,
mysteriously disappears. No security system was triggered, leaving the curator with a puzzle
full of unexpected clues.
The visual style draws inspiration from the ornamentation of The Secret of Kells and the
light, sketchy lines of Disney’s 101 Dalmatians. This fusion creates a story where a criminal
intrigue becomes a starting point for deeper questions about art, technology, and emotions:
can machines truly understand humans—and even learn how to smile?
