WARM’ SYNOPSIS
A young couple is caught in their cycle of everyday life. Dolly is the homemaker and laborer of the relationship while Ngozi gets to be himself day in and out. Ngozi treats Dolly like a servant ready to receive instruction. This cycle is broken when Dolly decides to leave Ngozi to start a new life and finally gain freedom. However, she doesn’t seem to be successful in getting far, especially away from her home with Ngozi. A dream sequence ensues where Dolly is reminded that she isn’t supposed to question her life, she is supposed to find satisfaction and purpose in the life she was told to have. She realizes how she cannot shake off this entrapment (patriarchy) as it has been deeply ingrained in her subconscious. Dolly, still walking towards her freedom, realizes that she cannot get far because there is no escaping the life set out for her (women). Her mind is fighting for freedom, but her body remains the property of patriarchy. Dolly dies and views this as her opportunity to be free from Ngozi, her life with him and the conditioning she knows. However, a few minutes after her death Ngozi drags her body back to the house, while it is still warm, to use to pleasure himself. Therefore, further driving the idea that there is no escape/freedom for Dolly.
